Youth Ambassadors
Laura
British Columbia, Canada
My name is Laura and I’m a volunteer-minded 16-year-old living in West Vancouver, British Columbia. At school I enjoy playing in concert and jazz bands, competing on the badminton team, and participating in science club and and many other activities. I hope to bring Dress A Girl Around the World to my school and others in my community who are eager to sew beautiful dresses for a wonderful cause. Though just recently becoming a Youth Ambassador, I am very excited to be a part of an organization that is doing such important work to benefit girls in need around the world. My Nonna taught me to sew and I have grown up around strong women who spend much of their time trying to improve the lives of others, so Dress a Girl is a meaningful blend of many things I enjoy! I look forward to creating awareness about DAG and inspiring others around me to help bring joy and dignity to young girls.
Gia
Lake Wales, Florida
Hello, my name is Gia. I am 15 years old and I love sewing! My very first sewing machine was a gift from my Grandmother for my 12th birthday and I have worked with my sewing instructor weekly since then. As I developed in my abilities I had the opportunity to teach a sewing class to the younger girls in my homeschool group to help them learn the basics of sewing. I love giving and serving in my community, so when I learned about Dress a Girl Around the World my heart was drawn to their cause immediately. So many girls struggle with self-worth and I believe that this organization’s mission will help girls to know that they are thought of and loved by others
around the world. I am so happy to bring this meaningful cause to my church and community and I am honored to partner with Dress a Girl Around the World as a Youth Ambassador.
Magnolia
Southern California
Hi, my name is Magnolia Swire and I am 17 years old. I am from Southern CA. I have been sewing since elementary school, where I started with sewing lessons, and now use those skills to sew on my own. I love to sing in my school’s show choir, perform in musicals, read lots of books, and be the VP of Bible Journal Club. In 2020, when I had extra time during COVID, I came across Dress A Girl and started my journey of dressmaking. Ever since, I have made many dresses, making each one with love and prayers. Dress A Girl is so special to me because I can make a difference in the world through one of my passions and give girls everywhere a chance to know God’s great love for them.
